About this project
An independent look at who controls public infrastructure in Texas, starting with the toll lanes North Texans drive every day.
Who we are
Started by a North Texas driver who got tired of paying surge tolls without knowing where the money went.

How we check facts
-
Traceable or it doesn't run
Every figure comes from a government record, a company's own filings or statements, or an established news outlet.
-
Every number is linked
Tap any small number on the site to see its source. See all sources.
-
Dated and updated
Ownership stakes can change through sales that aren't always announced. We note the date of each figure and update it when newer filings appear.
-
Both sides
These contracts rebuilt free lanes, moved financial risk off the state and return the roads to Texas in 2061. Drivers deserve the full picture, not just the parts that make people angry.

What's next
Toll roads are the start. We plan to cover other public infrastructure in Texas run under long private contracts, including utilities, water systems, ports and pipelines.
